Music to Fit the Mood

So I’ve found myself feeling drawn to a specific song today. Would you like to know the words of this little diddy? Here it goes:

Well, I guess I could be like you
If I wanted to.
Go and put your face on
And act like another pawn.
Here comes a season.
Here comes a day with no change.
It’s a copycat season.
Now don’t we all look and sound the same.

“Copycat Season,” Cigar Store Indians

It’s just been one of those days.

  1. You just can’t stand that all the “really smart people” don’t sit in the same section as you.

As far as song lyrics go I’m partial to this one today:

“Make a move and plead the fifth ’cause ya can’t plead the first”

“Down Rodeo” by Rage Against the Machine.

  2. Yes, but–as I wrote in my blog, Book of Tiano (http://stevetiano.blogspot.com/2006_05_28_stevetiano_archive.html):

The best two lines in the music of my lifetime–maybe in all music–are:

How can I measure up to anyone now
After such a love as this?

from The Who’s “Who Are You?”

If that’s true, then the second best lines are from Bob Dylan’s “Positively 4th Street”:

I wish that for just one time
You could stand inside my shoes
And just for that one moment
    I could be you

Yes, I wish that for just one time
You could stand inside my shoes
You’d know what a drag it is
    To see you

    Now them’s words.
