Why I Can’t Buy Any More Books

For someone who likes to think of herself as a writer, I am slack about reading at times. Here’s the proof: the books currently waiting to be read.

1 – Secret Keepers by Mindy Friddle

2 – The Stand by Stephen King

3 – Blessings by Anna Quindlen

4 – The Plunder Room by John Jeter

5 – The Kindness of Strangers by Katrina Kittle

6 – Brass Ankle Blues by Rachel M. Harper

7 – Accidental Happiness by Jean Reynolds Page

8 – A Long Way Down by Nick Hornby

9 – The Jane Austen Book Club by Karen Joy Fowler

10 – Evening by Susan Minot

11 – Flesh and Blood by Michael Cunningham

12 – The Lost Mother by Mary McGarry Morris

13 – The Rock Orchard by Paula Wall

14 – The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova

15 – Thursday Next: First Among Sequels by Jasper Fforde

16 – Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert

17 – The Complete Works of Jane Austen (That’s right; all of them in one hardback — eight bucks at Mr. K’s Used Books!)

18 – A Critic’s Notebook by Irving Howe

19 – 13 Ways of Looking at the Novel by Jane Smiley

And these are all in addition to the one I’m currently reading, The Lord of the Rings by J. R. R. Tolkein.

I’d love to get all these finished in 2011. We’ll see…

Thoughts, anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
